If you don’t mind, I was trying to complain about my job
Last Friday I did a guest comic for Multiplex; please check it out if you haven’t already. I promise Muppet-related jokes. (And check out Multiplex while you are over there, if you like character-driven comedy, which you might, if you are here.)
Speaking of the Muppets, did you hear there’s going to be a whole album of covers of songs from the Muppets? Including a cover of my personal favorite, I’m Going to Go Back There Some Day (from The Muppet Movie). Beck Kramer said Lucinda Williams should cover that song, and she’s totally right. But in the meantime, maybe Rachael Yamagata’s version is even better?

Whenever you draw books I always wonder – What is Charlie reading?
Well, Finn is almost always reading a book, and Charlie is almost always reading a magazine—though I expect it’s something more like The New Yorker than People. Finn reads novels of all kinds. it could be almost anything. For a while, when I was drawing Finn’s book, I’d give it the title “Book: A Book”. But I figure he finished that one. Maybe now he’s reading “Book, Book 2”.
I think he’s reading Finn’s diary. 😛
I discovered Hitched through your guest strip on Multiplex! Great stuff, I’ve been enjoying it – I only wish I’d realized to look for hover text sooner!
Book 2: Pig in the City
I have a friend who started a company called Digital Discipline. He now operates it as a fitness blog but originally it sold custom BDSM gear and toys made out of computer parts.
I can see how a person might slide from selling BDSM gear into talking about fitness. It’s how all the fitness gurus get started.
I always wanted the title of “Chief of Bad Assery”.
Been reading for a while and I always wondered how much of pain it was to draw these guys hairy legs.
Leg hair is easy! And generally fun to draw. Hands, conversely, are a total bitch to draw.
It is a pain, though, when you finish and scan in a drawing and then realize you forgot to draw the leg hairs in on one person in one panel, and you have to put them in electronically. As happened this week. See if you can guess which pair of legs it is!
Panel 3, Finn. I would have tried cloning some of them in. 🙂
Yep, that’s the one. I didn’t use the cloning tool, but it was something similar. However, the shadows came out really light on those legs, which I think is mostly why they stand out as different. Now that I’ve noticed that, I think I need to fix it.
I’m listening to the Muppets album. It’s fantastic!! Thanks for the suggestion.
I hear ya on the body hair thing! Trying to draw individual hairs in Illustrator and making them look like the ones I did with a stroke of the pen is a pain in the (hairy) ass! Love the strip! Charlie’s cheerfulness is adorably annoying.
