That guy
We were next to a guy like this the other day. He was projecting like an actor on stage, except he wasn’t on stage, he was sitting right next to us.
So I wrote a comic about it.

The loud fellow might have been hard of hearing, and could not tell how loud he was. I know from my own experience as a hard of hearing person! I commonly talked too loudly for my surroundings, and relied on my friends to give me the “lower the volume” signal to let me know when I needed to speak more softly.
I hadn’t thought of that! You are probably right. The guy was clearly overprojecting in a noisy bar. And he wasn’t with anyone; he was chatting with the bartender.
I try to give people the benefit of the doubt—I have enough experience with people who have conditions that are not necessarily visible, but affect how they interact or behave—so I’m a little embarrassed not to have thought of it.
This is one reason why my bf and I don’t go out. We prefer to dine out for breakfast because the crowds are usually quieter because many of them are still waking up. It’s quite sad actually. :/
